How often do you shop? Where? How much do you spend? How do you pay?
I feel like grocery shopping is something I just can't afford...

I try to do a major shopping once every 2 weeks, with a small stock up once a week (produce, perishables that can't be frozen, ingredients I suddenly ran out of, that sort of thing).
I do probably 60% at local kosher stores, and the rest from chain grocery stores or online at walmart, target or similar.
We are a family of 5, we spend probably about $700 a month. I could cut down even more if I had to, but I also am not spending wildly.
How big is your family? Where do you live? How much do you feel you CAN afford? Are there any community resources available to you to help get food on the tale?

I shop in the cheapest store, and try my best to go with a list. I also try to menu plan before going.
I regularly check the ShopRite circular-their sales are not comparable. FYI, generally in January they have ridiculous sales-I think last year pasta was .59 a box! I stock up a lot then.
I stock up on chickens/meats when on sale.
I REALLY TRY not "picking things up" in our neighborhood grocery. I found I would go in for a tomato and walk out with a $25 bill. It adds up.
It helps me to read the weekly before going-this way I know what I am getting..

I spend on average $275-$300 per week on food and paper goods which I buy at my local Kosher supermarket . Sometimes it's less. This week was more like $250. This includes fruits, veggies, meat and poultry, fish etc and all other food items. I spend another $250-$300 monthly on detergents, household products, toiletries, pampers, pull ups, formula etc. purchased at Target or Walmart.
four big kids and a baby.
Tuition is our biggest expense. Even more than our monthly mortgage .
