Hi
I had a baby five months ago, and we were told by a few people that her name is too unique and wouldn't give her a fair chance in the real world. We would like to change it to something more secular. Where do I go to change her name legally? Did anyone else change your baby's name shortly after birth. Thanks!!

You have to file a petition and go before a court. If approved, the name change will be filed with the county clerk's office.

It's hard to navigate so may be worthwhile to hire an attorney to take care of it for you.

Why are you listening to all these people? In todays world no one is going to bat an eye at a unique name. You chose this name because you loved it. Don't change your child's name out of fear for the future!
Good luck and mazal tov!!
