Would anyone be so kind and type up the recipe for the confetti cake for me?

Here it is:

8in. square baking pan
cooking spray like PAM with flour
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 cup milk or soymilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lg egg
4tbsp butter or margarine
3 tbsp colored non-pareils
vanilla frosting(optional)

Preheat oven to 350. Coat baking pan with spray.
combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Add milk and vanilla
Add egg.
Melt butter in microwave for 45 sec. Allow to cool for 5 minutes. Add to batter. Beat for 3 minutes.
Add the non-pareils.
Beat with mixer until just combined and creamy.
Pour batter into pan. Bake 30-35 min.
Let cake cool 10 minutes in pan.

Beware - I made it & althought it says to let the melted margarine cool before adding it so the color from the non-pareils doen't melt off, it didin't work & I got pink cake . Let the marge cool down for more than the time they say.

Really? I actually just made it and I was too lazy to let it cool, so I put it in the fridge for 2-3 mins and then added it. The cake was white!

It seems like such a good cake... can't wait to taste it!

I didn't have the recipe for the frosting so I made another one, which doesn't look as creamy as the one I recall seeing in the cookbook. Oh well, I'm sure it will be fine!

I tasted it... it's really good! It also looks nice - a different alternative to the usual chocolate or white cookies/cakes on a platter.

BTW, Momof3, I just cut mine, and I see that the non pareils did melt. The cake is still white, but the actual "balls" melted and are just spots of colors. It looks nice still, and tastes really good!

Maybe I'll try it again this week, if I still have some non-pareils left. DH tends to put them in his sugar free jello (don't ask!)

I don't know why KBD posts recipes with milk for a regular cake. They should write soymilk, or non-dairy creamer, zehu.

One is not supposed to bake dairy or meat "pas", unless it's clearly identified as such, by a special shape or some such.

Ummm. . . maybe because frum Jews DO bake with dairy products. I've never heard that this is an issue. Haven't you ever gone to a Kosher bakery and bought a dairy cake?

I tried this confetti cake last night. I'm not so crazy about it. To me the taste was very blah & it didn't look so cute although my kids liked it cuz it was colorful.
But it was a very cute idea!

I don't understand this. I bake almost exclusively dairy desserts.
