I'm not insulting mentally ill people. But if a Rav & parent denies a child of life saving meds, then he must be mentally ill. There's just no other way to put it.
We didn't even ask a sheila about giving DD her asthma meds, it's a given.
It's no different than denying a cancer patient chemo. Asthma is the same, or even more life threatening. Asthma without medication kills way faster than cancer without chemo.

Sorry, I have several family members who are practicing pulpit rabbis, and one who isn't But answers shaylas. I've heard a lot.
Diabetics are told to eat on yom kippur.
What you are describing - a child with asthma
Suffering for lack of access to medication on pesach -is beyond the pale. |
I am mentally Ill because I respect those I disagree with? That's rich.
You can disagree with someone without labeling them as mentally ill. You insult and minimize the suffering of those dealing with mental illness.

There's no mitzvah in the Torah to respect someone who puts a child's life at risk, on pesach or any time, under the guise of halacha. There are all kinds of extremists who do things that are not supported by the Torah, no matter how frum they look or act.

Btw, extremism and OCD are both a mental illness.
