Is there a real good or even decent orthopedist in the Brooklyn area that you don't have to wait 3 months for an appt? (I'm scared of Dr teppler)

What are you afraid of with Dr. Tepler? He's helped me on a few occasions.
Dr. Edelstein is a good option for the hand and upper body.

Dr. Edelstein is great for the hand and upper body. |
I heard he has an horrendous personality. I need a dr that has patience. It's not a broken bones type of issue and need a dr that will answer all my questions in a decent manner.

That hasn't been my experience. I've been there a few times over the last 18 years.

Dr. Mara Karamatopolis is tops--warm, caring, and a fantastic doctor. She is in NYU, but I believe she works out of a Brooklyn office as well.

Yes I know! 2-3 months for appt. Unless it's a real emergency which it isn't. I also wanna do it before DC goes to camp.

I've been to her once. She's one a kind.

Maybe you can call her office and check for cancellations? She is far and away superior, may be worth waiting for.

I know she comes highly highly recommended but I didn’t have the best experience with her. She told me all is fine with DC but DC ended up needing casting done which I only found out about a half year later when I decided to go to a world renowned ortho specialist for a second opinion. I think my case with her is definitely the minority but just putting it out there so if anyone is not confident with a doctors opinion they should just know that going for a second opinion is very important.

She is human and fallible. However she is in a different league than the others mentioned.

If you are going to see an orthopedist for a congenital defect.. you really should see someone who is an expert in the field. For example, My dd has a clubfoot, I would have never gone to a random local ortho. Although I did see some experts in Manhattan, we ultimately follow someone outside NY state.

Dr tepler reviews are only 2 stars. Anybody familiar with pediatric orthopedists on bay parkway?

No. It's for a teenager. Legs.

Yes, Dr. John Munyak is great for a teen boy.
ETA:. He is a sports medicine doctor. If this is for a congenital issue, I don't know if he's suitable.

Where in Brooklyn do you live? Far from Manhattan? I use Dr. Popkin in Columbia, he's amazing.

Dr. Anthony Tucci at Maimonides is amazing. My son sees him annually for a regular follow up since fracturing the growth plate in one of his knees 18 months ago.

I wasn't impressed with him at all. Saw him once with a little kid. Had a few questions. Had to run after him literally in the hallway to get answers. He answered them but felt like he's doing me a huge favor.
