Hi. As the year comes to an end I need some good ideas for my daughter's teachers and my preschool son. What to give for an amazing teacher?
What's a good gift idea?
Or rather cash? And how much? Very Happy

I love gift cards. I buy them near me at a cvs. Looks more like a gift than cash

Gift card or cash. You should see the responses to facebook posts asking about this- over and over hundred of replies from teachers saying gift cards or cash please! The amount doesn't matter- just give whatever you would have spent on a gift.

Gift cards are the best. Depending on the store and how much extra work I invested into the kid I choose whether to use it on a gift or necessities. (For the kids I poured my heart and soul into and the kid grew from it I splurge on a fun gift to remember them)

I find target or Amazon are the most versatile.

I don't like gift cards. No one ever didn't like cash. I have a wallet full of gift cards.

Yup - some people actually do find it really tacky to receive an envelope with cash.

Why is a $50 gift card any less tacky then $50 in cash?

I hate being controlled where I spend my money. Currently, I have gift cards from the following stores: Macy's, Lord and Taylors, Nordstroms, Target, Saks, and Bites. ( Wave Hi Miriam - never got that sushi from Bites.)

I have had some of them for years. I gave DH a Walmart gift card I received. I also have Amex gift cards which I get from a relative for occasions. I also received a very odd amount of money on a Barnes and Noble gift card. It must have been a regift or a return.

Then give the teacher a check. This way the money could be spent on necessities if needed.

Hey- the one I buy is universal! A visa gift card in a nice package that has a picture of a present box bow and says: gift for you!

I was just responding to "no one ever didn't like cash".

Give away your gift cards.

Dh is a rebbe. I vote cash. We are iyh expecting a baby any day and I am really hoping he gets a few cash gifts so we can buy the older kids some nice toys to keep occupied in the time between school and camp...

You can buy toys with a Target or Amazon gift card, too, you know. Or a visa gift card, which basically *is* like getting cash.

You can buy pretty much anything at Target or Amazon, so those are my go-to choices. I would not give a gift card for a specialty store or restaurant. If you choose a Visa (or similar) gift card, check to make sure there aren't ridiculous fees.

I am not interested in giving them away. I don't think regifting is nice. I have given away work ones, but those aren't personal.

I didn't say anything about re-gifting.

At this point - the card is just an unused card? Or perhaps its feels nice to carry around all the personal gifts? I really don't follow. If that's the case - seems nicer than receiving cash.
