Have you shopped recently in malls, regular department stores (not Jewish stores) for clothing for yourself in the past week?
Have you seen the styles and colors that are out there?
Am I the only one going insane because I cant find anything even remotely nice to wear?
I like to be in style but also classy. I have shopped for shirt dresses, blouses etc for the summer and while I found the styles to be a bit funky I wear them anyway because well that is what is in style. For the summer items though the colors and prints were nice floral or light pastels.
But now for the fall, I have been shopping these past few days trying to find clothing for Yom Tov and the stuff I see is crazy!
Ghastly mustard yellow dresses, or ugly tan, beige, and red plaid. Bright maroon with ugly flower prints. Orange - and I mean burnt orange zebra or leopard prints. I happen to love fall colors but these colors are just ever so slightly off enough to just be plain ugly. The prints remind me of the 1960s. old fashioned. The styles are also off. Zaras had these long frock dresses that looked like sacks. Maybe with a belt it could pass, but without- theyre just plain ugly!
Hunter Green with white pea size polka dots. I thought polka dots went out of style long ago! and why am I still seeing SO SO much leopard? I thought that trend was over, has it come back in style?
anyone here have a great fashion sense that can help me find clothing that looks beautiful but can also be considered in style? but doesnt remind me of a 1960s old man or grandma ? feeling glum.
Links to nice shabbos and weekday fall dresses would be so welcome.

I went to the mall and saw this dress in one of the stores and actually stopped and stared for a minute. Then laughed. If it was the only one ok. But almost all the dresses were similar hideous patterns.

This was the plaid that made me horrified.

and this one I tried on actually was so flattering. It looked beautiful on me, and was tznius etc. long enough. But the color. cringe. I almost gave in and bought it, (is this the style? maybe I should just give in ) and then at the last second didnt.

Perhaps you can wear something from your existing wardrobe and update with accessories.
Or shop in less "trendy" stores if you don't have anything suitable.
Some seasons there's just nothing worth buying.

I agree that its slim pickings, but I found some great classy and classic skirts on the macys website and was able to match them with tops from zara's.
I also, on amother from a different thread's advice, found some AMAZING Skirts with matching tops at Burlington. None to clingy or backside hugging, all a few inches below my knee (I'm 5"4).

I need new stuff. I dont have clothes for fall/winter. I changed sizes so my old stuff doesnt fit. Most of my wardrobe is summer things which I bought in the spring.
which stores are less trendy? I looked in macys and found similar hideous prints and styles. The things I liked were a bit out of budget.
and I WANT to be trendy. I want to feel like Im in style and not wearing stuff from 10 years ago. But I cannot bring myself to wear those ugly prints and colors.

How do I say this nicely, some of the trendy frum store items of late are things I would never wear, either. These shapeless dresses that flatter VERY few figures, the thin material that shows outlines of underwear and bras, and just in general really does nothing for the wearer. [shrugs]

maternity is even worse, everything is so tight/plain/low cut/too short/to cut out or the material is all wrong for fall. I don't NEED anything, but wanted to get one nice thing as most of my yom tov maternity is 6-8 years old.
