Totally depressing watching my nest egg disappear so just trying not to think about it. Long term, it can certainly turn back around and grow even more.

Yes I can totally relate. So hard to look at portfolio of years of such hard earned $ and capital appreciation get chopped in half

I haven't checked my portfolio.
It's not a real loss. When you invest for, say, 20 years, you know that the stock market is going to crash at least twice in that time. It doesn't matter what happens at any given point in time, only how much the money grows between when you put it in and when you take it out.
It's awful for people who needed that money right now. But if you didn't, try not to worry about it. Just remember that this was always part of the long-term plan, and the plan is still on track.
