Do we register for daycamp (non refund deposit) or stay in the wait game about sleepaway camp?

Why not wait a few days? Won’t they HAVE to make a decision one way or another about sleepaway soon?

One of the satmer camps ( they're usually the last ones to post any decision before fighting tooth and nails for it) send around a letter to the parents that they won't be opening for first half they're hoping to be open for second half.

Depends on your child. My 12 year old is still hoping for sleepaway camp. He needs the outdoors and his friends and he'd be happy. The day camps around here are all in school buildings with limited grounds and he'd rather stay home all summer than be cooped up in a classroom with "dumb" activities.

Private daycamps are filling up FAST. If only we’d know for sure Cuomo will make a decision soon. At the rate he’s going he’ll keep us waiting another 2-3 weeks.

We're 3 weeks away from camp, , Even if they announced tonight that camps are opening it's too late for the season. It takes a few weeks to prepare a camp to open.

I hear you.

Personally I would not give any deposits I could not afford to lose and be ready to do so.

Sorry to say.

Honestly I am thinking more about options that would seem to be within my "control" like a small group of like minded people at a home/backyard with protocols and hiring a mothers aid type or a backyard camp person...or something that works for the relevant ages.

Id stock up on home activities, games, and the like, hobbies...

My camps are preparing all this time as well as most others. I feel so bad for them if they won’t be able to open after all.

Camp grounds had permits to start construction and prepare bunkhouses. Camp staff is preparing the program but holding off on making purchases until we know for sure. At this point it's a power struggle. The frum camps submitted their proposal on May 5th. Cuomo knows what his decision will be but he's enjoying dangling that decision just for his ego.

I have a feeling that boys camps might open and take over the girls camps to be able to follow the SD guidelines. Divided between More camps so easier to follow. Boys came first as far as cheider and yeshiva reopening and same will be with camp. Just my gut feeling if it counts for anything.

While understandable I would try not to get too focused on any one plan not for myself and to model for my children the necessary required though tough adaptability and flexibility and ingenuity required during these times.

I think the kids and I know this good and well by now. Even if we do make plans we know that Hashem can change it in a second. But we still gotta first make plans. The rest is not in our hands anymore.

So far, they don't have chaishek to open. No applications were mailed yet. Time will tell.
