What types of jewelry are in now?
Asking particularly about necklaces, but really everything...
Noticing ppl aren’t really wearing the clunky cute ones anymore...

Where do you live? In Israel, "statement" necklaces and earrings are out, and minimalist jewelry is in. Small pieces of fine jewelry, real gold.
Rose gold and pave CZ are still super popular here, but I suspect the rest of the world has moved on somewhat. We tend to be a bit behind in fashion around here.

Not so into it but every now and then try to keep up. Went shopping today after not having been out for months. Noticed ppl were wearing nothing or very minimal jewelry...

Not true. Minimal gold jewelry, gold chains, dainty gold bracelets, and a solitaire necklace may go out of style in a couple of years but it was always look feminine, minimal, and cute. It will last longer than costume jewelry and is worth investing in.
If you don't like those types of things - never buy them for a trend. Never buy anything trendy that you personally dislike. Why would you do that?

As far as I know a solitaire necklace can be any length. She specified a specific length for it was "in".
