Is it possible to learn basic spoken Hebrew via Rosetta stone? Anybody done it or heard of someone else doing it?
I can read but not fluently and have picked up common words used in everyday vernacular living in a frum community but I would like to at least speak very basic things for purposes of some communication while in Israel.

You should check out iTalki, it's a website where you can do skype lessons with an actual person. It's hard to learn a language if you don't have anyone to talk to who can help with your pronunciation and answer any questions that come up or explain certain nuances that a program isn't going to go over. Textbook Hebrew and the way it's actually spoken is different like with most languages.
