I had heard of the first 2 events as happening on Tisha B’av, but not the third. I knew Poland was invaded around Rosh Hashana time. And that the start of WWI was also the precursor to WWII.

Interestingly, I’d always heard the expulsion was on August 2.

What does that mean “it’s brought down”? Where is it brought down?

I'm still trying to figure out which is more authoritative, "it's brought down" or "it's in all the seforim"

Nissan is the first month according to Shmot 12:2, which would make Av the fifth.

It can go both ways but it's still pretty weak.

There is a shita that the first chorban was on ז' אב

The Chasam Sofer used to sit on a low chair and he gave a tisha bav like drasha on that day.

These expulsions occurred before the Gregorian calendar reform, which altered the way the secular calendar works, and converters don't take this into account, which causes the discrepancy.

Re the Spanish expulsion - the edict gave 9th Av as the deadline. Jews began leaving a few days earlier, but the last Jew had to have left Spain (I,e, Spain was to be Judenrain...) by the 9th Av
