I honestly believe that any beauty that Hashem created was made to beautify the world.
I enjoy beauty in which ever way it comes. It doesnt mean that I have to use the person in order to enjoy the person's beauty.

Are we no longer allowed to appreciate beauty?

Exactly. Human nature is human nature. Since the beginning of time. Now, in certain circles it may not be accepted to comment on or discuss looks of the opposite gender. That doesn't mean it goes unnoticed. Just like you noticed, OP.
Personally, what I find sad about this situation is a young, strong, presumably capable guy who never acquired the skills needed to support his family in a dignified manner and must go collecting charity.
BTW, no guarantee he'd have made it as a model. It's not only looks, it's also how you photograph. Some gorgeous people just don't photograph well. And vice versa.

I'm not one to poo poo the entire secular world. People actually are living the high life there. But a career as a model? That's what you wish for him? The above is a typical trajectory for any model, and most of them don't make it big.

Ha! Im loving this thread! I always thought I’m the only ridiculous one imagining these simple people as models..... so many times I see these real frum/chassisish women or men with beautiful face and figure and I Imagine them as a model with a makeover lol! It’s so fun!
