Public schools will be opening at the end of the month. Where does that leave private schools?

NYC was clearly not ready to open. They had no plans for how to protect students or teachers.
Delaying was the best thing they could do. Hopefully they'll buy a clue in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, private schools hopefully have their acts together.

Yes, the NYT has good coverage. Their PPE supplies were enough for at most 2 weeks. Teachers still didn't have schedules. A hybrid plan like they wanted to do takes an enormous amount of work to set up in regards to schedule and is extremely complicated. All for having the kids go in 2x a week for not even a full day. Sounded like they didn't have enough qualified teachers either.
Private schools are much smaller and can set their own schedules etc

It depends on what. My neighbors kids school doesn't have private bussing so the kids are not having transportation as of yet.

Talmud Torahs in Wmsbg & BP are all open. Girls schools iyh opening on schedule. if anything, this buys us more time, bc if opening public schools will cause a spike, at least it'll be after rosh hashana.

NYC private schools all had to submit plans for approval. As long as they were approved (your school wouldn't have sent a start date until they got approved) they can operate now.

This.
But unfortunately schools are not being reimbursed for programs for days before September 21.

What types of programs are they reimbursed for?
Also, public schools are opening virtually on the 16th, 17th, or 18th depending on the school, but not starting the in person hybrid model until the 21.
