I innocently went for my initial appointment to the Ob (not my first pregnancy) and lo and behold! there are two! I’m using a midwife practice near Lakewood, and while they say they do do twin pregnancy I’m a bit apprehensive. And totally overwhelmed. Where do I start? I’m 10 weeks already (was feeling mostly fine and being that I have so far Bh had uncomplicated pregnancies was not in rush to get checked out) and I have no idea what to do what to think! The midwives want me to go to a perinatal specialist in three weeks for a consult and detailed sono. I just scheduled that appointment. Anyone who delivered twins in the Lakewood area, who did you use? Any recommendations of physicians and like now what?! What to think what to do?! This is crazy! Bh in the best way! Babies were measuring to size with good heartbeats Bh!

OP, I know it's scary. Take a deep breath!

You're doing the right thing by reaching out to other Imas who have been there, done that.

What kind of twins are they? That’s important to know bec if they are identical (share a placenta) you need to see a high risk dr for the duration of the pregnancy. I very badly wanted twins and Hashem blessed us with twins two years ago. It’s amazing watching them grow and play and interact. I have a bunch of singletons on top of them but can’t imagine having another singleton. I want to have more twins lol. I really enjoy them so much. It’s a double Bracha.

It seemed to be non identical, there were two clearly visible separate sacs. But the midwife said it would have to be confirmed at the perinatal specialist scan in three weeks...

Mom of twins here!
Twins are a handful but amazing at the same time. My heart just melts every time mine giggle at each other (they're still babies). Mine are fraternal, and I used a doctor who has experience with both twins and singletons. I had ultrasounds quite frequently but nothing else sticks out...besides for the fact that they were born a month early (normal in twins).
Hatzlacha! let me know if you want to pm me and I'll post my username.

I have fraternal twins and used RWJ OB GYN. They are high risk and deal with twins a lot.
Delivered in Robert Wood Johnson.

Bsha'a Tova!
I had fraternal twins and used Dr Kaufman's practice.
I did go to the MFM practice on Rt 70 every couple of weeks, as well as the regular OB appts.
My pregnancy was pretty uncomplicated, they were each in their own sac and were both delivered vaginally. Ironically, my twin delivery was actually my easiest one. They were born 4 weeks early.

I got the book 'When you're expecting twins, triplets, or quads' by Barbara Luke and tried to follow her nutrition guidelines. She recommends a really high calorie intake which was too hard for me to follow. But the recommendation is to gain more weight towards the beginning of the pregnancy - I think its 20 lbs by 20 weeks, but dont remember exactly...

Welcome to the club!!!
We were going for our last hurrah and at my first appointment, low and behold, there’s two!!!
I’m halfway now in my pregnancy! I still sometimes pinch myself if this is even real!! I never in my life paid attention to the how’s and what’s of twins (Besides for how cute they were) because I was never going to be a twin mom. Famous last words!
So far I’ve felt absolutely fine, I was expecting an awful pregnancy because I read that the symptoms are doubled with 2.. but Bh Bh!!

why are twin moms (whose kids are already born) anon? it's kind of obvious to the world that you have twins, why hide it?

Anyhoo, yes, welcome to the club! Mine are 13 now. No local advice for you--- I'm in Ohio. I was horribly ill--- so glad you're doing well thus far!

I’ve been lurking in the April group and following the drama but never posted. Typically don’t post much on imamother, but now literally have nowhere else to get any info from... now that I was told I won’t be able to go past 38 weeks I’ll likely give birth in March... thanks all for your good wishes! And insight! Super grateful to you all and any additional info would be appreciated...

I don't recommend using a midwife group. There is a much greater chance you may have a c-section and you'll want a doctor you know doing it. I won't say who delivered mine because although my c-section went very well a subsequent delivery did not go well and I have since left the practice.
I have never used rwj but I've heard good things about them and would expect it's a good option.

Thank you! That’s my feeling as well and the hospital they deliver in doesn’t have such great NICU options... I’ve heard RWJ has great NICU care... I think that’s where I’ll be looking...

I have twins, also used rwj. They were incredible beyond words. Like some others, I also had a consult with mfm thru the rjw doctors. I’m happy to speak directly if you need.
