Adina I love, it is very classic but in the Tanach it's a man
Naama is also very classic

Interesting thread. I'm due with a girl very soon and some of these are on my short list of names;)
Zehava
Ahuva
Aviva
Adina
Naava
Rina
Naama

Hubby doesn't like any of them, and wants to go with a Sarah or Rivka (he'd be willing to consider other names, but wants something more mainstream heimish/current BY type).

I really want a name that will please us both but can't find one. Briefly considered a double name but not really a fan of muti syllables.
This has been on my mind since the 20 week ultrasound and I'm 39 weeks now!

How about Hadassah? It's my name and I've always loved it, and had compliments even from non jews. Maybe you and your dh like it?

You are right "Hadas."like הדס

Adass.
Because in French when you put an "H"at the beginning it's "Ch"."ח"
Like Chaya is Haya. חיה
So if you write" hadas" you will read it "Chadas"...]
Ruchel correct me if I am wrong

Ah okay!

I think Zahava is a cool name. Not a popular in school or successful in a career type of name. But all the Zahavas I know are the most real, down to earth, hysterically funny people that everyone loves being around.

None of them are load and popular. It's only when you know them.

What about Dina or Rachel (with the stress on the second part of the name)? Those are two typical classic names that I’ve always loved. I’m surprised he won’t consider some of the others on your list as they are pretty mainstream. Or would you do Rivka and call her Riki? Currently pregnant with a boy, but if it was girl that’s what I would have done, because my beloved grandmother was Rivka.

I feel like names that end with a long 'e' sound end up being the cooler girls names, like Debbie, Miri, Dini, Tali.

I think Ruchel is confused. The children of Adin, not Adinah, are mentioned in Ezra. Adin was a descendant of Yehuda.

Adoniyah was a man.

Adina is a man who appears in Divrei Hayamim, but it’s spelled with a final aleph not a final hey like the feminine name.

Thanks. I was familiar with these, so I guess you're right that it was confusion of ה and א.
