So what would you recommend instead?

Getting into any school in middle of the year will be extremely hard. Lots of classes are full. Bais rochel is full to capacity so getting into a full class will be harder then just getting in.

Today's days Bais Rochel is very chassidish. If you want less chassidish but yiddish speaking, the only good options would be Munkatch or BDY. There isn't a school that's not too chassidish and not too litvish. It's either or, either chassidish or not. All neutral schools are yiddish speaking. There isn't a school that a real mix of chassidish and not chassidish.
You can try your luck with Bais Rochel if you're up to nagging relentlessly even after getting a no.

Nope, there's no school like Bais Dovid. Bais Shifra Miriam used to be like Bais Dovid but not anymore.
Bais Dovid is also slowly becoming more chassidish.

Bais Dovids sibling’s go to Bais Rochel, Kesser and Bas Mikroh. I’m sure there are other schools that they go to too. There is a mix in Bais Dovid but the mix is really very to the right yeshivish and Chasidish. There isn’t much in between.
The rebbeim and hanhala are all Chasidish.

If you want an easy time getting into school find a good match or at least apply to the type of school that would love you. So for example if Bais Rochel likes (could be I'm wrong) mother's with short sheitels and father's in kollel or teaching and this is your family than apply.

Also how Chassidish is your husband? Yiddish speaking? Shtreimel?. Bais Dovid and Bais Rochel are very into tznius. As well as Kesser and Imrei Binah. Imrei Binah is not a mix.

They have a long list of tznius rules. I think they are the frummer version of Bais Rochel. Once again, if this is you than apply.
