I wonder if I can just make more challa dough and make the pigs in blanket. Dd asked me to make some for Shabbos.

Can you call them cows in blankets? It's better to avoid the p word esp. When referring to food.

this reminds me of a funny story. my son's coworker in Israel is a chasidish Czech ger who speaks English but it's not his first language. my son was staying over his apt and in the morning he asked him if he wanted ham and eggs for breakfast Smile so my son was curious/amused and was like what's ham and eggs? and he was like eggs and you know, turkey, cold cuts whatever you have in the house Smile

I’ve had ones made with pizza dough so I can’t see how challah dough would be very different.

Just roll it very thin as challah dough is puffy. Unless you like puffy.

It's been done.

That’s how we call it. I’m so surprised from all the replies. What dough do you use?

I use store bought pastry dough squares but my daughter made this in camp using challah dough. It gets coated in egg so any dough should be fine.

It is indeed the “real name” for franks n blanks, but pigs and challah in one sentence made me smile
