What do they use to season Israeli salad? I know there's salt, but is there vinegar? Lemon juice? Oil?

Olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper (black or white).

I actually just made a really good one. Did cucumbers, tomatoes and red pepper. Seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon juice, garlic and parsley flakes. Was delicious.

I recently added mushrooms to my Israel salad, with apple cider vinegar in the dressing. Was delish.

Olive oil, fresh lemon juice (not from a bottle!), salt, and fresh ground pepper.

Traditionally it has bell peppers, but I can't stand them. I really like to use some finely diced red onion. It's a bit sharp and a bit sweet, and adds a nice depth of flavor. If you want some more color, you can use freshly chopped parsley.

For Pesach, I usually make a batch of quinoa and chill it, and then mix in an equal amount of Israeli salad, with a bit more dressing. It's so yum!

Adding in granulated garlic is a game changer IMHO. Maybe no longer authentic but adds such a punch.

Some diced mango is delicious as well!

Diced pickles in Israeli salad are an absolute must, according to my resident experts.

So to me that's not Israeli salad any more 😉
I do make other salads with this as a base. I love adding chickpeas, feta, avocado...

Finally I got the taste like from the store when we got vegetables in one of the delivery boxes. They were regular cucumbers not Kirbys which I usually use and the big tomatoes.

I did not put in the seeds of the cucumber and just seasoned with salt and a drop of oil it is also important to let the salad sit for at least 15 minutes a lot of the salt will get absorbed and then create the juices. Diced scallion is delicious but not necessary for the store taste

I make a variation with tomato, cucumber, red onion, sliced pimento olive or any green olive. Dressing is olive oil, olive juice, lemon juice, pepper, salt if needed

I just had this for lunch today! I added an equal amount of white beans to the amount of veggies, some sharp mustard, and lots of diced leftover chicken. This is even better the next day. If you mash some of the white beans and mix them into the dressing, it will make it very creamy and smooth.

It's a meal in a bowl, and so good for you! You can add chopped fresh parsley for vitamin A and bright color. 🥣
