If he just had strep and the tics got worse is without a doubt pandas. I would beg the dr for more antibiotics. At least a month for starters. You don’t need bloodwork to confirm a pandas diagnosis though it could be helpful. If the pediatrician doesn’t listen, get a new one. Seriously. Or a specialist. Also, try those over the counter meds, they really really help.

If you want to go a different route, a homeopath can really help with this. There is a practice that’s entirely virtual that specializes in pandas and pans.

Who’s this homeopath? And how do I know it’s safe?

I don’t know if or how my word will convince you, but homeopathy is from the more low risk options out there. The most you have to lose is your money. The practice is resilience naturopathy, look them up and fill out an form online, they will call you back within a few days or weeks.

Yes, because mainstream will never address all the layers of chronic disease, and sometimes not even the most superficial layer. But even if you decide to go mainstream, getting a top notch specialist who really know what’s they’re doing can make a big difference,

My kid also has tics. 95% of children (or more) with tics, it's neurological not behavioral.
No "book" will cure my kid. Or most other kids with tics.

You are prob right. Most likely is Pandas. He was on zyrtec, amoxicillin, and other antibiotics too many times. Pediatrician keeps brushing it away, telling me to go to an allergist, neuro dr. (Which I did remotely, and after one phone visit, he diagnosed as Tourettes.) but he keeps getting strep too often.

Its affecting him so much, physically and emotionally. At this point I would try anything. Homeopathy may be nice, but I want to make sure it treats the source.

You need to check for Lyme. Can go on for years if not treated. It’s a special test sent to California. A local bloodwork won’t show you that. My son just got diagnosed with Lyme and within a week of taking the herbal drops his annoying cough disappeared

I took the herbal drops and it didn't help at all

Trauma. Look into what might have happened when the tics started and if they are exacerbated by stress.

DH started ticing when he was sxually abused as a teen by a girl in the community (younger but more powerful than him, daughter of the local rav). When s1 started flirting with him at work he started ticing again; we worked thru the emotions and memories and tried to empower him to tell her off and it stopped. If he tics now I know he is either v. v. v. exhausted or v. v. v. stressed or s/t happened at work to set it off, so we find a solution.

Initially his diagnosis was Tourette's (he doesn't have it).

This!

I went through trauma/anxiety as a child, and developed lots of tics, on and off, got yelled at lots to stop, saw a neurologist who said it was not tourettes.
It comes and goes, and definitely starts when very stressed and very tired. The core of the issue is anxiety, I feel like I can't breathe.
My pediatrician recommended magnesium.

I also tried homeopathic drops on my own, didn't help at all.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is what helped the most.

I dont think it is trauma in my son's case. I'm leaning towards Pandas.. I insisted on bloodwork two years ago, dr. didnt really want. I pushed for it, and result came back strep in blood.. After ggiving antibiotics, they never wanted to recheck if it went away completely. Now that his tics have never left, and he keeps getting strep, it makes sense that it's still in his system.
I need to see a specialist.

How does cognitive therapy work?
I dont think a book will help me, if it's a medical issue.
