People in the design field are saying that most of the new dining rooms being sold, arent bought with breakfronts. People are buying either 1 or 2 curios, to go with table and chairs.

Are there skillful and elegant, and up to date, ways to decorate w a traditional breakfront?

Anyone aware of any photos from Houzz where designers have put together a really good classy traditional (European design) breakfront with other furniture that gives the room a nod to transitional, but still very elegant look?

I'm seeing stunning breakfronts being given away right and left. I was wondering the same thing. I didn't know that curios were the new "in" but that's exactly what I want. Takes up less space and is less overwhelming.

Breakfronts were out of style already over 10 years ago.

How about the large 3 section wall units used for Sforim, are they out too?

If yes, what do people use for Sforim, thats "in"?

Thats way too traditional. I think anything that traditional is out too, even if its narrow.

I didnt mean specifically that style, just meant those 3 piece sets instead of 1 huge piece.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, but you know that people look for Machatonim who were in jail, because then they know they have money..., and if they have money, they have updated homes. Punch

All the big brown furniture that's popular in frum circles is out. So what? If you like something, buy it. If you prefer something else, also fine. Furniture is too big and expensive for most people to update all the time.

I don't have a breakfront, but my parents did.

The lower part is drawers, where you store table linens, silverware, serving pieces, and similar things.

The upper part with glass cabinets stores china, crystal, kiddush cups, etc.
