It depends on how old it is and if it has been involved in a crash. You can have the car seat tested.

As a prior poster said, despite going against safety regulations of all pediatric recommendations of not using second-hand car seats is what’s wrong with that.

What makes a car seat second hand? If I use the same Doona for 3 kids is it second hand? If I use it for one kid and my sister uses it for her kid, is it second hand? As long as it's not expired and the history is accident free (and it is a known history) what is the difference here?

The ikar is accident free. The problem is presumably you and your sister trust each other, but if you're buying it from a stranger, can you really know 100% that it's accident free? Maybe they bought it second hand themselves and they didn't know about a previous accident, or maybe they're lying, or forgot etc etc

This. I would not trust a stranger online with what could potentially be my babies life.
