Not really anymore. It wasn't even close the last two presidential elections. And the legislature is overwhelmingly Republican. I personally don't love this, but OP is entitled to her preference.

Do you want just a red state or also a red area? Nashville is a very blue city in the red of TN.

Ideally yes, but I know that’s a big ask.

Even in the reddest states, often the large cities are islands of blue.

Some red states produce red necks and neo-Nazis, who are not so welcoming of synagogues in their neighborhoods.

There is really no perfect place to live. The closest you're going to get a good mix is in Israel.

This exactly. I'm rolling from this thread... OP we're in galus, what do you expect? If you're anyways open to moving anywhere that's not Democrat, just move to Israel.

I live in a blue state (IL) and the stuff that I hate is mostly related to how the state is managed, tax policies, the Chicago Teachers Union does stuff that is beyond my ability to understand. My friends and family in more red states have a better experience with that stuff. They pay less taxes and generally seem to have a more functional government. My grandparents in Florida have gotten both doses of the Covid Vaccine my father in Chicago who is eligible to get one is having a nightmare of a time. One state said we prioritize seniors and one state does not. I think lots of people in NY, CA, IL etc feel similarly.

I live in super liberal Cleveland heights in the wonderful red state of Ohio.
Big cities are usually full of liberals.

Pennsylvania is purple, but Philadelphia has a really nice Jewish community - and it's only a couple of hours to NYC if you have friends and family there.

Otherwise communities in Ohio and Florida might be a good match, as other posters have said. South Bend Indiana pops up on this board from time to time, though I personally know nothing about it.

I think you’re confused about what I’m asking. I want to live in a state with low taxes and high regard for personal freedom. Why is this related to aliyah at all? I hate how every imamother thread gets highjacked by someone who wants to deviate from the topic at hand.

This is very prejudiced and rude. I want to live somewhere with low taxes, and that’s not going to happen in Israel. And by the way, I’ve traveled extensively throughout the south for work as a religious Jew and never encountered a harsh word. I’m sure it happens, but I’ve heard more about anti Semitism in NYC than in anywhere I’ve been. I doubt you’ve ever met anyone you so derisively call a redneck, but feel comfortable equating them with being Nazis anyway. Statements like this are why the outside world sees Orthodox Jews as rude and small minded.

Thanks to all of the posters who have stayed on topic and provided useful recommendations!

In your original question you didn’t specify why do you want a red state. It sounds like you wanted it because of ideological reasons.

Israel is a socialist country. I personally love that but how is that going to work for someone who wants to live in a red state?

OP, you probably already know but often where taxes are lower there are fewer government benefits; I assume your family doesn't rely on that.
