Are you doing anything special with the kids to make the day extra exciting? We don’t have many people to take m’m too, so that won’t be more than maybe 1/2 hr.
My kids aren't happy about missing out and I’m a bit sad too...
Was thinking of doing a little play with the kids acting out the story (if they’ll cooperate...)

Any other low key- but fun activities? Zoom performances?

Can you join with other families via zoom?

We can try- but I can’t see it being too successful with the chaos and all that will most likely be there...

Do you have friends that are also staying home you can join with virtually?

I wouldn’t recommend joining through zoom. That will just show them what they’re missing.

What age are your kids? Mine are younger so when we missed the Chanukah parties I bought their favorite foods and set up arts and crafts. They were happy we had done something special.

I like the kangaroo shoes idea or another special activity but it’s Erev shabbos and really not a long day.

Why can’t you join? What is the reason?

Baby-9

I think they’re too young for kangoo shoes, but maybe we can do the moon bounce with Purim music!

Was it special kind of crafts? Any ideas you can share?
Thanks!

Because we accidentally landed on the moon and can’t make it back to planet earth in time for Megillah reading and dressing up...

Moon bounce would be perfect. And think of pranks you can pull on the kids. I’m coming up blank now but I’m sure others here have good ideas.

I cheat for the arts n crafts and print stuff out from chinuch.org. I’m not so original.

And your kids are the same age as mine. I found if I was excited they were too.

What about putting together a scavenger hunt? Each clue can lead to a different hidden candy or prize.

Do you have Toveedo? Rabbi B has a great new episode teaching kids how to make shadow puppets. They can make the Purim story.

We did family dancing and singing both Friday nights in Adar instead of a traditional mishe mishe (where you go from home to home singing).
I say put on Purim music and have a fun family party with costumes and dancing. You can do follow the leader or Simon says with silly dance movements. Freeze dance, musical chairs, etc.
Decorate your house for the Purim party. Have kids make MM for one another.

Decorating is a great idea. Make a few hamans. .
