Just wondering how old a baby can be and be considered a newborn? ,

I consider newborn to be anytime in the “fourth trimester,” so when the baby is less than three months. I have no source for that though; it’s just my opinion.

One time my mother in law told me that my baby was too old for me to say that he’s a newborn anymore. He was 3 weeks old. I wanted to say that if I’m still bleeding from the birth then he’s still newly born, but I’m not that bold.

Where I live, up until 6 weeks is considered newborn (medically)
But if I'm referring to a mom after birth and her newborn, I would consider 4 months a newborn too.

For my own babies, my 3 month old is still a newborn for me. Sleeping in her bed next to mine, cuddly and small.
For other people's babies until like 2 months

I think I've heard that technically a newborn is the first 30 days, then infant for first year.

I hold that baby is new born up to 3 mon. Once baby turns 4 m. you should start to see a change from new born to more alert and bigger. I see it with my babies. I have a 4 month old now btw and I can say she has passed her new born stage . She was new born for 3 m. Now I don't call her new born anymore .

Medically 28 days
Personally until they fill out and look a little sturdy
