1. Those people who would not do a shidduch with a family whose minhag it is to walk their own child down probably wouldn't because the family is not their type, ie. Not from their circles, not because its a strong minhag.

I have heard some people say it is chukas hagoy, so there is a lot of ignorance around customs that are different.

I'm sure some on this site could confirm that some families would not do a shidduch with another family because of the type of hat the father of the kalla wears or the type of socks the chassan will wear.

It's not because its a "strong" minhag. It's that the details have to match exactly, or they won't be meshadech with them. By chassidim, these details matter tremendously, something that is difficult for non chassidim to understand.

2. Regarding the nidda issue, are we saying that they won't walk their own child down because the kalla may be a nidda or because one of the mothers may be a nidda?
(Regardless, neither of these would be a problem halachically)

Grandparents or an aunt and uncle etc.
