I am chasidish and besides for Bobov, I don't know of any chassidus where women dont't fast on YK or TB when fasting or nursing. (Bobov is more lenient with TB but I don't think with YK.) For Tisha B'Av the halacha is within thirty days of giving birth and for YK it is three days.
My mother had a child when she was over fourty and asked a Rav about fasting when she was pregnant, the Rav paskened that she had to fast.
In our family we fasted all minor fasts as well, when we felt well enough to.

Just can't do it with preparing and taking care of kids.

I have checked this out again, and Briskers most definitely fast all the fasts. Maybe you and Motek have heard it, but that doesn't make every rumour true. It is true that they are machmir on pikuach nefesh and if someone is ill etc Brisk is meikel, but that is nothing to do with healthy people. Brisk is makpid on keeping the SA.

this MO girl isn't fasting either, I have a baby under 2 and my family discourages fasting for women except the big two.

One of my chassidish friends says that she doesn't fast on Taanis Esther because of pikuah nefesh. She always says this very dramatically and pauses for the full effect. Then she adds, " . . . because otherwise we might kill our kids!"
This is a joke -- at least I think it is!
