Is it whole or precut? If the latter, ask your rabbi. If its whole, I'm missing the problem.

how bout just washing the whole melon with soap & water before cutting it? wouldnt that work too?

Whole melons have a hechsher on them? I've never noticed. I thought the sticker was the company name & code on it.

I heard there was a problem with salmonella in canteloups from a certain country ... I think maybe that is the issue ...
