I went off flour and sweeteners and processed foods. It's been a month. The first week was really hard. Week 2 and 3 were pretty good, I felt good, I wasn't craving. Week 4 has been really tough. I want something yummy. I've been craving something baked so badly. I have had to talk myself away from giving in so many times in the past week and it's really hard. I miss treats.
I thought if I go off these things I will not crave anymore. 2 of my friends are doing the same thing (they started before me) and they have zero cravings and love it.
What's wrong with me? Sad
Should I just make like fake desserts with almond butter and fake sugar? So not my style. I dunno.
Looking for chizuk.

(Yes I do eat healthy fats)

So normal.

IMO, if you want to make yourself obsessed with a certain food, restrict it.
When I used to do Whole30s, when I came off one I would eat family sized bags of chips in one sitting. Ice cream every night. Etc...
Now there's literally no food I don't trust myself around or can't eat in moderation because I allow myself all foods.

Check out Elanas Pantry
Also - look into mug cakes
They are quick and easy to put together and portion control.

I think keep zero junk in the house.

But allow yourself to buy a few treats a week.

Like buy an ice cream cone - but not a half gallon of ice cream in the house.

Also, think if something else might be causing the craving.
When I crave chocolate or sweet it is often dehydration.
Maybe you need more salt?
When I crave wheat its either bec. I'm very hungry, or a need for emotional grounding.
I also find myself more likely to crave when I am tired.

It’s normal to have cravings. I can go off carbs for a long time and crave it really badly. No amount of fake stuff will fulfill that need. Imo, treat yourself once a week or something.

Spice and spirit has a few raw egg based desserts like ice cream and mousse and then you can use whatever sweetener you want. Love the strawberry idea.

I don't like ice cream or candy or chips.
I want a baked good.

Where's the magic you won't crave anymore and have tons of cravings???

I'm giving it 3 months and then will reassess. Really really want this to work, I'm FINALLY losing weight.

I bake a batch of low carb blueberry muffins and take one every other day for a snack.
They are made out of almond flour.

Here’s the recipe: I sprinkle cinnamon to the tops of the muffins before baking and I also add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the batter.

INGREDIENTS
2 1/2 cup Blanched Almond Flour
1/2 cup Erythritol (or any granulated sweetener)
1 1/2 tsp Baking powder
1/4 tsp Sea salt (optional, but recommended)
1/3 cup Coconut oil (measured solid, then melted; can also use butter)
1/3 cup Unsweetened almond milk (at room temperature)
3 large Eggs (at room temperature)
1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
3/4 cup Blueberries
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C). Line a muffin pan with 10 or 12 silicone or parchment paper muffin liners. (Use 12 for lower calories/carbs, or 10 for larger muffin tops.)

In a large bowl, stir together the almond flour, erythritol, baking powder and sea salt.

Mix in the melted coconut oil, almond milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Fold in the blueberries.
Distribute the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

RECIPE NOTES
Serving size: 1 muffin

What about spelt flour? I have a banana bread recipe you can use spelt flour for and has minimal sugar you can probably omit.

On Pesach I committed to myself that I would have no sugary snacks till Shavuos.

On Shavuos I ate ice cream and then I committed to myself that I would have no sugary snacks till tu bi'av. I'm planning to treat myself to ice cream then.

So my strategy is that I keep telling myself that I'll be able to eat ice cream soon. We'll see how long I can last.

I use stevia & lots of cocoa.

Also almond flour. Try Simple Mills Almond Flour Cookie mix!

(I think you're supposed to use either 1/4 milk or an egg, by mistake I was using both. I also bake longer than they say bec I like them crispy.

TIP: after cooling package them in one portion zip lock bags!!!)

I have the same craving and this is what I just ate.

1 large banana sliced
Sprinkle cinnamon and stevia on bananas
Drizzle sugar free pancake syrup on bananas

This satisfied my craving. I’m really not into bananas but with the cinnamon and pancake syrup the banana flavor was very mild.
