"chelko shel" is a more poetic way of saying "hachelek shel".
The first "yedid" meaning Am Yisrael is collective reference to the entire nation as a whole. The "yedidim" emphasizes that it applies to each individual. BeiHamik was built for the nation as a whole but every person can atone thru it individually.
