It is illegal to feed the ducks by lake Carosaljo, because the town and the people who live there want the ducks to go away.

Well I don’t think bread is healthy for the ducks. But considering that the entire town goes to carosaljo to feed them I wouldn’t worry about it being illegal. Yes there are signs posted. I personally don’t bring bread but that’s because I think it’s unkind to the ducks.

I was once at Lake Carasaljo, and an older couple was there. Looking into the lake, we could see the disgusting drudge of so much soaked up bread, pita, and other stuff that people threw in to "feed the ducks" (more like, clog up the lake). The woman told me that she grew up in Lakewood, and the lake used to be pristine, clear, beautiful, and that all this "feeding" has turned it so ugly, she feels like crying.

Please stop doing this to Lake Carasaljo.

Ducks don't need so much feeding. They have small stomachs.

OP, take your kids to the Popcorn Zoo where they can feed the animals.

What can we feed ducks with?

I wouldn't worry about the legalities...but it's such a Chillul Hashem. That's something I would worry about.

When you consider that everyone else is feeding them bread I don’t think they’re hungry at all. Also what chayelle said.

oh. They should be eating raw food. Barley, oats, rice, or vegetables like corn or peas. At least I think that’s what they eat. I’m no duck expert.

a lake near our house had baby swans last year. They put a sign up asking people to bring no bread, but oats, corn. peas...other stuff I can't remember. You can google it. And swans might have different diets to ducks.

If you must, try cracked corn or vegetable peels.
