Is anyone familiar with the steps needed to install a Marble or Granite Tile floor properly?
After ripping out the old floor, what goes next?
I know they at some point lay a metal mesh.
Does anyone know all the steps taken in preparation, before laying a Marble or Granite tile floor?

I know you didn't ask, but unsolicited advice is a given on imamother -- my parents put in a marble floor and haven't stopped regretting it since. Super, super high maintenance. They're buffing it non-stop. And if certain things spill, the marble absorbs the stain and there's no way to get rid of it. And my parents don't have kids at home anymore, so it's not like it gets a lot of wear and tear.

Step one, call a few flooring companies.
Step two, compare quotes.
Step three, schedule installation.
Step four, go do something fun while they are working on the house.
Step five, enjoy!
