as promissed, very worth it even the 2 day process.

orange creamsicle:

Boil 1 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar.
Add 1 package orange jello and mix well.
Remove from fire and immediatly add 2 cups orange juice and mix well.
Freeze overnight in flat container.
Next day remoe from freezer, let soften for 10 minutes then beat with mixer to sherbert consistency.
Spread in jelly roll pan lined with baking paper (let paper hang over pan) freeze flat until solid.

Vanilla Ice-Cream:

Only half recipe is needed, so either make 2 creamsicle rolls or what I do is mash strawberries and mix them with other half for strawberry vanilla ice-cream; freeze in container.

9 eggs separated
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
3 tsp. vanilla sugar (1 package)

Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually add sugar.
Lower mixer speed and slowly add yolks oil and vanilla sugar.

Spread over sherbert and freeze until solid or overnight.
Remove from freezer. By lifting baking paper, remove entire thing out of pan unto a flat surface. If too hard to roll let soften for 10 minutes then roll up like a jelly roll using the paper for help and pulling paper off as you go. Refreeze immediately until hard then wrap tightly and store in freezer.
To serve: I spread some raspberry sauce in plate and place a slice of creamsicle ice cream on top.
enjoy

I've never looked for orange jello here in Israel. Does anyone know if/where it can be found? And if it's not available here, what can I substitute?

I just looked. I only could find pineapple or apricot.

I'm going to try with the apricot. (They had apricot in supersol store brand, so it was cheaper. And if I don't end up making it, apricot doesn't sound bad to eat as regular jello, pineapple sounds icky to me).

I make something like this, and it's great.

One difference is that my recipe calls for whipping the eggs over boiling water or something like that, so the eggs aren't considered raw. I have no clue what I did with the recipe but if someone wants I'll see if I can find how you do that.

And, I could never get it to roll so I just serve it as a 'layer' cake. Cheating I know but looks nice anyways.

Heres the one I have:

Orange layer:
1 orange jello (can use other flavors too)
1 cup boiling water
1 egg white
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup orange juice

In mixer, whip jello and water, add egg white, keep whipping. add sugar and oj. whip till it really increases in size -very fluffy(takes 5-10 minutes with my kitchen aid).
pour into pan, freeze.

white layer:
3 egg whites
1/4 cup sugar
8 oz whipped topping
1 tsp vanilla extract

Whip egg white, add sugar, add whip and vanilla. whip till very fluffy. spread over frozen orange layer.

I do 3 layers in a 9x13 pan. orange, white, red/pink- I use raspberry jello for red layer, and no oj.

for fancier effect, freeze the 2 layers in jelly roll pan lined w/ wax paper. when frozen, roll up carefully (depending which side u roll from you get longer and thinner roll or shorter and fatter one). refreeze wrapped in foil. slice and serve
