Very few women over the age of six look really good in poufy dresses. Wear what makes you feel beautiful.

I have never seen poufy gowns on a grown woman, except maybe Glinda The Good in the Wizard of Oz.

At a simcha I attended recently, I noticed a woman who looked kind of odd. Not fat, exactly, but odd. She was wearing a poufy dress. Street length, not a ballgown. From the waist up and knees down she looked slim, but her lower body was twice the size it ought to have been. IDK if this was a gown that she had had shortened or the dress was made that way, but it was NOT flattering. Even knowing she was probably a toothpick under that haystack of tulle, I couldn't picture her as slim.

Really? I always thought she looked a bit long in the tooth for such a monstrously poufy gown.

If there is a rule, nobody told me about it. I wore a lovely beaded gown to my sibling's wedding. From a department store (and on sale). No poof. If anyone minded, nobody said so.

Were you asking me for a link? No link. This was about 3 years ago. The dress was on clearance - long, no slit, high neck, but totally sleeveless. Because the dress was so inexpensive I bought a second dress and had sleeves made from it.
