Can anyone tell me about this new high school? Is it yeshivish, heimish? Academic?
Anything you know would be so helpful.
My daughter has no siblings in another high school so we will probably have to consider a newer/smaller one…

Try adding the words "Lakewood high school" to your title. That usually garners a high response😉

It is really to new for anyone to have much of an opinion.

How does your elementary school work with the application process?

What do you want in a high school?

I personally didnt have a strong opinion. My daughter is in Oros, shes happy. She has hardly any homework and the word on the street is that it is accademic. We are not seeing it any different accademically than the other schools. I still beleive they are all the same and the only thing that matters is friends.

As someone on Meiras' staff... I'd be glad to respond.
It's a very warm school, very yeshivish but also more fresh. A lot of the girls' parents are out of towners. The girls are very serious about learning and growing, but they're also very geshmak and spunky. Academics-wise, the default setting is somewhat average-high, but they do work well with the girls who struggle academically and give them the help they need.
The school culture is one of seriousness, maturity, growth and fun.

Your scaring me.
My daughter friends are all applying to different schools then we are, BBY and chedvas vs. Oros and Aderes. Basically my daughter will be going to h.s. not knowing another person.

Should I apply to a H.S. I dont like just so she will have elementary friends with her..?

Im having anxiety already for her.

Absolutely not!!!!
Very few girls can guarantee they'll even get into school with their friends, just because they want to. And seldom do girlsfrom elementary remain friends in high school.

It's usually a fresh start for all and an appropriate school choice is most important for your daughter to make good long term friends. Yes friends are a huge part of the experience but I think she meant your new friends and environment as opposed to the actual academics. Not old elementary school friends. So yes def work on the school where you'd like the girls with whom your daughter will choose her friends.

And please don't have anxiety. Most girls end up happy, it takes time for all 9 graders! You're the one that sets the tone for her:)

Follow your heart!! And then do everything you can to implement pull and make sure your school of choice knows they're your primary choice.

My daughter is there and she loves it. Probably most parents are more yeshivish than me, but I like that. It seems very simple and there is no pressure.
I’m thrilled I sent there BH.

Actually I didnt mean her current friends. I mean her high school friends. You have a good group in high school, school will be amazing. You dont, school is really tough.

Most local high school teachers teach in more than one school.

Basically, though some schools are considered more academic than others, that shouldn't necessarily be your qualifier in decision making. Theyre all within a certain range, and have all levels of students.

More important is the atmosphere, the girls, the type of homes, who your daughter will be associating with, what's the general emphasis between the students. Each school has its own "vibe", though there will be overlap, of course.

it is more yeshivish then oros and aderes. not as much as bais shaindel or maon though. maybe similar to bais yaakov.
I would imagine they are setting up teachers for next year already. try calling the school office or getting in touch with rebbetzin paretzky directly.
