Not looking for someone that only does alterations. I'd like to sew up two custom dresses from scratch for an upcoming simcha. I've bought the fabric, and need a good seamstress that is highly experienced and whom I can trust for a really good fit.

Please recommend only someone that you have first hand knowledge of.

And anyone have any other recommendations other than Ranie's? She messed up on the alterations on my last dress so although I've been happy with her for a few years now, I'm hesitant to go there.

No. She does all measurements. He just sews it up.

I've had bad experience with Ranies lately, she messed up big time and it cost me a lot to reverse the damage.

Natalia in Hillcrest is crazy, but an excellent seamstress
She will scream at you, call the fabric a 'shmatte' , hopefully not throw anything...and then work magic with a needle and thread. I left because I couldn't take the crazy anymore, but if I had a job like this I'd probably go back to her.

We used Natalie in Hillcrest for years and years. She is excellent. We handled the craziness, until an anti-semitic kind of craziness where she was spewing things that hit too close to home as Jews. We left Sad

I wouldn't sew up a full dress by her.
OP maybe try your luck with Silver Sequin, maybe they'll allow you to bring your own fabric.
