It's a workhorse -- solid. I have found many brands/models have an issue with the electric connection getting loose if plugged and unplugged often. But I own several Yamaha PSRs. In general, the higher the number, the more features, and the higher the price.

You can also try looking for a used one in good condition.

Bassline pro recommends Yamahas for kids wanting to learn to play keyboard by ear.

The highest level he recommends (most features) is the new version Yamaha psr e473
The lower levels have less features.

Korg is more professional

Make sure it has space for a USB to add more styles.
They outgrow the basics real fast and this is the key to being able to use it for longer.
I know the PSR E403 does not have a USB port.

I don't know about other beginner models.

is there any real diff between the psr e373 and the psr e473 worth spending a hundred more?
