Help me understand how it works - watching insta live/videos

So there's this speaker Yakov Horowitz I've been following on facebook for a long time. He does a lot of work with kids at risk and children's safety and stuff like that. I find he seems very sincere and wise. For a while now his facebook mostly just points to instagram as being the place where he does all his videos. I actually went and installed instagram just for this because his topics are very compelling and I really want to see what's going on and learn how to be a better parent. But I can't figure out how it works and it's so annoying!

How do I find past "lives"? How do you know what's what, the videos don't seem to have any titles? And worst of all, once I do start listening to something, if I go off of that screen for any reason it goes back to the beginning and doesn't save what you're up to. And if you don't go off of the screen but someone in the room wants to tell you something, I don't see any way to pause and continue.

Am I doing something wrong? Why would anyone even want to use this platform?! Please help!

I am going to try and answer all your questions. Please let me know if I answered everything or if you want to know anything else.

If you open Instagram in your browser it will give you the option of pausing videos. It is not an option in the app.

If you want to filter his live videos from all his other posts then here’s how you do it:

When you go to his profile page you’ll see the following icons on top of his posts: a grid looking square, a square with a triangle in it, just a triangle, and a pic of a person in a box (hope I’m describing it well) click on the pic of just the triangle. That will give you the lives only.

If you click on each live his videos are numbered and there’s a description on the bottom.

Thank you! Helps with finding lives. Does not help with understanding why someone would default to such an unfriendly platform - I don't have a browser on my phone so I guess I can never pause a video (why would a professional, popular app not have a pause?!) And why should you have to click on each video to see the title?! That is so klutzy, you would think an app worth billions would be a little more user friendly.

I'm on the whatsapp group, it's 1-minute little bits and pieces. But he also does things like insta-live interviews with people in different fields, or longer lectures about specific topics, and those are not on whatsapp as far as I know.
