we are buying a house in Hollywood (moving up from Miami) and wanted to know how's the community today. I've seen old posts but wonder if much has changed. We didn't grow up religious (so don't have frum friends from when growing up) and we follow Chabad minhagim

I think there's a more yeshivish community there and a more MO community. I have 2 friends that live in Hollywood. They don't cover their hair or dress tzenuis. I do think there's also a more RW community in Hollywood.

There is a young more modern community.
The women I know do cover their hair. Dress pretty tzinius but not to strict RW standards.
It is a very young growing community
They are building a mikvah
Starting a new school
They have a shul with a rav
They want to stay a growing spiritually community
It’s still small. Maybe 20 families.

I was just there, in 1 apartment complex alone there were more than 20 frum families.
There are many shuls.
Many kosher stores and restaurants.

No clue. I spoke to couples that live there and they were describing their community.
It’s the one Building a new mikvah.
They are around a specific shul
It seems like they felt they were pioneering a new community. Starting a school.
But maybe I misunderstood.

They're talking about their neighborhood. Hollywood is a large, established community.

Yes there has been at least one already mikvah for a long time (I know there's one community mikvah as well as a chabad mikvah). Maybe not walking distance from their neighborhood but there are many shuls in Hollywood.

Hollywood is a scattered community, from info I have regarding an organization I'm involved in, I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood and NMB have around the same amount of jews. I believe there is just much more diversity and scattering.

You must be referring to West Hollywood which is more of a pioneer, small community. It is a far walk from the Emerald Hills neighborhood which is the main frum Hollywood neighborhood.

Which one? We have a few.

The newer smaller community (I'm guessing which one based on the info given here) is a very short drive (but rather long for Shabbos walk) west. It's called Bais Mordechai. It's actually been around several years but never had a community for Shabbos until now.
