Any ideas of how to remove a stain on a white gown? There is a clear dirty mark where the hem was let down...
Thank you!

What sort of material is it? Is this something you can wash and soak in the bathtub?

A shiny (maybe satin), under layers of tulle.

If you can wash the shiny part without the tulle in the bathtub by hand, that's the way to go, though it will take a lot of time and effort.

Are you sure you don't want to pay an expert cleaners and make sure it stays in its current condition? Is it a bridal gown, or a kids gown?

It's sister of the bride. I prefer trying something on my own first before sending it out.

I've done it with a children's off white satin type gown in the bathtub. You need to start with a very clean bathtub, no residues. Make just the dirty part of the shiny fabric wet and avoid soaking the tulle (let the part that needs to stay dry hang over the outside of clean the bathtub).
Put some Dawn dish soap on the palms of your hands (so it's not too concentrated) and spread and rub the soap into the stains. Let sit 15 minutes. Rub together the wet treated fabric (rub fabric against fabric) and try to loosen the dirt gently. Dip back into bath water and repeat as many time as necessary.

If you can't get the mark out, cover it up with a row of trim that matches some element of the gown, such as beading or sequins. If the gown has no trim, choose whatever trim you like for the hem and add some of the same to the neckline and sleeve edges or along the seaming of the bodice, waist and skirt.
