My 4 year old son is bright - he knows the abcs from doing puzzles, aleph bais from looking over his sister's shoulder, does place the piece puzzles from memory not shape. Largely a memory type brain. I want to do fun things with him (my kids each get a few minutes of mommy time if they brush teeth nicely) and lately we've been playing games. I want to play games that will interest me so we both enjoy the time, and that make him think logically.

Everyone is bored of connect 4, I hate uno, checkers is a big time investment that ends in him crying that he wants to play something else because he will lose, even if he is good for his age.

What are some other options? We own tons of games in storage, but can't think of which would work. We can also play a game on an app so long as it doesn't use the browser.

https://www.janetlansbury.com/.....play/

It's a cute list, hope something on there inspires you!

This can be a bad age for win/lose games and I just want to offer some reassurance--it's ok to put those on hold for a few years. It won't hinder his ability to play games/participate in team sports later when he's ready.

My daughter who is bright liked playing set, spot it, and mancala at 4. Also matching games. They have some easier ones like "match the mitzvah" but I also had an alef bet game that has both sin and shin and alef with all the vowels and stuff like that so it was more challenging. I also found a random game on amazon called taco vs burrito which doesn't seem particularly challenging but all my kids 4-12 enjoy playing.

He gets junior rummikub but not othello...
Really looking for shorter games with limited cleanup, my kids get 5-10 minutes.

When my daughter was four I taught her how to play rummy. By the time she was 5 she did not need my guidance any more.
Set game is an excellent game that can be modified for a four year old who can handle analytical thinking.
Memory matching is age appropriate. Bingo.
Have fun!
