We are designing a new kitchen. Any tips or suggestions? What are things you wish you did differently when designing your kitchen?

Hire a good kitchen designer - you don't know what you don't know and a good kitchen designer will design the best kitchen possible in collaboration with you.

Start researching and looking on the internet - looking at different kitchens will give you an idea of what you like and will show you things you hadn't realize existed as possibilities for storage or cabinet configuration or sinks and faucets.

Start reading the houzz.com forums on kitchens and designs and you will learn a lot.

In terms of actual features - what do you dislike about your kitchen and what would you want to make it function better for you.

In terms of features some obvious ones like deep drawers instead of doors in lower cabinets.
