We are considering making Aliya to Beit Shemesh at the end of the school year. We are a chilled yeshivish family. 5 kids ranging from 12-2. There seem to be schools that will be a good fit for my children in the city. From what we heard we will not be able to afford a decent size house in RBS at this point even though this is probably where we would find like minded people. Somebody mentioned to my DH that if we are willing to move into the city itself we might be able to find larger properties in the older areas.

Any information would be appreciated.

There are no yeshivish people in old bet shemesh. Also very few anglos. You will not feel comfortable there. RBS daled is much better option. It's still fairly cheap there (compared to Alef or hey). Lots of Anglos and very yeshivish/chassidish.
