I am still in middle of the back to school season, naturally my kids came home with stuff that is not on the school supply list.
I still need to buy more Uniforms, for now I am managing with what I have now.
I need to buy my boys more school pants and the cheep stores don't seam to have their size, including places I looked on-line.

I am just now starting to look at what meats are on sale. My kids got shoes with the back to school shoe shopping, probably not buying any clothes that is not tzitus or white shirts.

Am I the only one that did not start thinking about Yom Tov?

My 14 year old needed a new suit, that kid is growing like a weed! Bought the same as his last one, the stretchy one from the Hat Box, 159

My other boys I got some hand-me-downs that should work, I need some more white shirts for one of them, but will be ok if we cope with what we have for now.

My daughter needs new everything! A second weed😉. Hopefully going shopping today. I'll try Once Upon A Child and Serendipity for her. Hoping not to spend more than 100$ total.

I bought 2 new skits and 2 new tops, weekday, for myself, about 250 I'd love something new for Shabbos. We'll see what I find!

I booked a chol hamoed outing for my kids , something that I've wanted to do with them forever, 200$. Yikes! But I'm so excited! It's going to be amazing!

Did my first Yom tov grocery shopping yesterday, 150. Groceries are a fortune!

Bh for steady incomes and my husband's partnership! I can't spend whatever I want, but it's not going to be only beans and bread and last year's mended dresses. I'm really greatful for our current frugal-but-flexible stability!

As the one who started the other thread for entertainment, I feel this one will turn into more of a rich vs poor, frugal vs. spender etc. since it encompasses peoples full spending habits, vs the other one was just a day.

But I guess we’ll see.

So far I only spent on back to school stuff.

$150 school supplies ($135 for a preschool girl and only about $15 for the boys, highschool and elementary)
$200 for seforim for the boys
$20 nit check
$90 for two boys weekday shoes
$90 for Shabbos and weekday shoes for little girl
$45 on tights and a couple of socks for me and girl
$100 on weekday shirts for one son
$20 on clothes for daughter - rest is all hand me downs
$25 on hair accessories for both weekday and Shabbos
I left out some stuff , I estimate about $800 in back to school basics for 3 kids.

We still need to get new hats for 2 sons, a new suit for another , Shabbos shoes for 3 , clothes for me, Shabbos shirts and shoes for older boys, and then all the food and paper goods and Yom Tov stuff ….that will go into the thousands.
I try not to count or make cheshbonos for Yom Tov. I buy what we need to enhance our Yom Tov. We are more simple and don’t over do it, but appreciate good food and wine Lekovod Yom Tov.

Aren't you going to treat yourself too? Smile

I've no clue what I've spent so far but too much! I've enjoyed it but I need to slow down a little now.
I'm still looking for a couple new things for myself for weekday. I've no time to go out shopping properly so I've done mostly online this year.
And I can't buy online for myself, I need to try it on.

I've cooked all my meats, and done some desserts bh.

I have a question, I live in a country with a pretty stable climate. We have 70+ weather 10/11 months of the year so basically besides for some winter sweatshirts and a shabbos sweater, all clothing is the same season.
People who live in the US who are buying a whole season for each child, how is 3 weekday outfits enough, two shabbos? Is there something I'm missing cuz I don't think that you could wear summer stuff in NY snow. So do kids have smaller wardrobes?
I'm not trying to snark, genuine question

Maybe their kids are in uniforms most of the week.

I haven’t even thought about yt food shopping yet.
My kids and I mostly have hand me downs/clothes from before the summer that still fits. I probably will still buy a few well priced pieces of clothing. ($5 leggings for the toddler, Amazon or Shein for me, and 2 fresh white shirts for my boys.)

Maybe. Let’s see if I have time.
