Will my insurance company cover my assumed stolen ring and bracelet? I don't have a receipt or appraisal for them and no proof they were actually stolen- just a suspicion because they are suddenly missing and I did have some workers in my home...

Did you have insurance on them? Most homeowners policy require a special rider to cover jewelry.

Depends on your policy. I have had lost jewelry reimbursed after a $500 deductible with a renters insurance policy.
Ask your broker- most will advice not to claim for a few thousand dollars cuz your rates will go up a lot

Which company do you have?

I also have $500 deductible and I thought I needed an additional jewelry coverage so didn’t even try…

Did you need a police report to claim?

I did not file a report. I said it was lost.
They asked for a picture and did their own appraisal.
It was Hanover renters insurance, quite a few years ago.

You should ask them for sure. But usually you have to have a special jewelry rider which includes an appraisal.

Without a receipt or appraisal could be difficult. Do you have a way of getting a receipt from the store you bought it from, depending on how long it's been? Or at least an up-close photo you could submit with the claim. And as others have said, depending on its value and your company, you may need a separate jewelry rider.
