Would love to plan a little getaway!
Can you please advise on a great hotel thats in the hock of things? (Near attractions and kosher food)
Thanks much!
Also any input on what to do and where to eat would be appreciated!

The attractions and kosher food in NO are in different areas, so you'll have to choose what's more important. Also beware that there's a few places that advertise they're kosher but are under the supervision of the local Rabbi from Chovavei. When we visited the only place we could eat was the Kosher Cajun Deli in Metairie, which is also where one of the 2 shuls is located. The attractions are in downtown NO, where rooms and parking are more expensive.

Cafe du Mond looks amazing! The problem is that it's under the hashgacha of Rabbi Phil Kaplan, whose semicha is from Chovavei Torah, which isn't accepted by most mainstream Orthodox Rabbis.

This wasn't always the case, so some people eat there without knowing any better, but definitely ask your LOR before relying on it, since most will say not to eat there.

Thanks for this!

We stayed at the St James hotel. It was really nice - walking distance from Bourbon St area and downtown attractions but away from all the nightly noise. Attractions that offered bus pickup also picked us up steps away.

Some of the highlights we did: swamp tour, plantation tour, Preservation Hall (amazing historic intimate jazz show), World War II museum was incredible, Museum of Southern Jewish heritage, took the trolley to the City Park and walked through the outdoor sculpture garden.

We ate at Kosher Cajun, Cafe du monde, and Waffles on Maple. Check with your rabbi about certification. Kosher Cajun has a grocery section so the first day we went, we also bought stuff like rolls and deli meat and took it with us for the day trips like the swamp tour. Be aware they also close somewhat early so you have to really plan your meals in advance.

We stayed downtown near the attractions and cafe du monde (amazing) but also rented a car and drove to Metairie for dinner.
