I would say about $40
I made a bar mitzvah about 18 mos ago (before inflation) and spent $13k on a pretty nice night event. 120 people.

So the Shabbos would be another $20k by itself?
I wouldn’t do a woman’s kiddish, just men, and standard not fancy. Shabbos meals for about 30-35 ppl

Pretty nice is midrange or higher end?

I didn't make a nighttime event.
Full shabbos for any relatives that was able to come. It was beautiful and way cheaper. I didn't cater. I made the food and hired my cleaning help to come for a few hours on shabbos day. I think total came out to $1500.

I can’t do it myself , I would only cater.

Wasn’t crazy high end. It was nice.
Floral centerpieces and runners, rented chairs and tablecloths . Used a higher end caterer but kept their base menu so ended it being nicer.

I’m in Brooklyn but maybe prices similar. I paid about 11,000 total weeknight and shabbos. My shabbos I did kiddish setup and Meals myself. Weeknight was done fully regular in a hall.

I’m the type that has zero creativity etc so I’m
Looking for it to all be done for me start to finish for the evening event, and for Shabbos the caterer should do everything- tablecloths etc or a party planner for that. But no women’s kiddush (for now at least, I’ll see if I change my mind)
I want it to be nice but not ostentatious. Middle of the road. I’m not looking to cut corners.
Anyone have pricing for these types of events? Again my family is small.

That will cost you
Services rendered costs
Closer to $50K+
Not fancy
Unless you do a lot yourself

Go out and get quotes

Before I get quotes I want to have an idea.

Someone upthread said she paid 13k for the evening. Is Shabbos really an additional 35k?

Why not hire a party planner and do some of the cooking yourself?

I can’t Smile
I have little kids and it’s way way too stressful to think about cooking.

Not a regular Lakewood bar mitzvah. The place I called is $25pp per meal, min 60. Plus 600 hall. Waters $25 per hour. Plus sweet table. Will need to add in food in my house erev shobbos and afternoon. Ill do centerpieces from Gamache. Total will be 6.5k to 7k for 70 guests.
This is the lower end, but it is still nice.

Call around and price it out.

I agree with this. The $50k numbers are much higher end. Call Estria- their price for catering includes the hall rental and they include basic tablecloths. They also set up a simple sweet table if you provide the pastries. You would need to order benchers, centrepieces (flowers or candles etc), and take care of music.

A $50k bar mitzvah to me is with a party planner that’s renting chairs, high end flowers, large sweet table, fancy dishes, glassware, chargers, high end musician, high end caterer etc. old time lakewooders don’t spend near or close to $50k, just pretend to be one of them!

A mens kiddush in shul shouldn’t be more than $2.5k unless you’re ordering crazy stuff
