My 12 year old would like to make some money to save up for something he really wants. He already gets an allowance and does save some of it, but wants more opportunities. Any suggestions for what he can try?

There are a lot of simple handyman jobs that neighbors will pay kids a lot of money to do because they have no idea how to do it themselves. One service he could offer is assembling Ikea furniture. Many adults struggle with this but it really is within the abilities of a 12 year old with some training and experience.

During COVID my friend paid her kids to clean instead of a cleaning lady. Her son did the bathrooms and loved getting paid for it.

He's good with his own younger siblings, but I don't know that he's quite mature enough for a CIT/mother's helper type thing. He does struggle socially. So far I think his best bet might be handyman/assembly type stuff. He is really good at assembling.

Taking out neighbors garbage to the curb and back every garbage day, charge let’s say $5 a month per person. If you live near us we’ll be your first customer !

Special needs boys ages nine and above are always in need of help - sometimes kids who are awkward are less inhibited with special kids… offer to take someone out on a shabbos afternoon for pay
