I’m wondering if there is an OPWDD agency in NYS that pays $25-30 per hour for Overnight Respite and/or Comm Hab?
Please only answer if you have first hand knowledge, as in, you work for an agency that pays such a rate or you are a mother whose service provider receives that rate.
Thank you!

I do not know any agency that pays $25 for comhab or respite.
But you cannot use comhab for overnight hours. Only respite.
Hamaspik will pay a higher comhab hourly rate, not sure exact amount, if you agree to forego your OPTS funds.

It's hard to get paid for overnight.

You can do self direction but if you do it on a regular basis you'll run out of funds before the end of the year.

Yes, I know that I can’t use comm hab for overnight. When I go away, my provider bills comm hab for waking hours and respite for sleeping hours.
I’m interested in what you wrote about Hamaspik since I think I can manage without the OTPS money. Any idea how I can find out what Hamaspik pays with that arrangement? I don’t want to call them and switch agencies and then find out that I didn’t accomplish what I need. My current provider isn’t interested in continuing unless she gets a higher rate of pay.

You are 100% correct about self direction. That’s why I’m not interested.
Why is it hard to get paid for overnight?

Have you called all the agencies? I see many glossy color ads in the local publications and magazines that promise the moon. I’m hoping that one of them might pay such a rate.

There are no agencies that will pay that much. Through self direction com hab can be as high as 30 and respite as high as 20-21. These numbers are through hamaspik. But no other agency can pay more.

I work for a lot of the agencies. If anyone offers more pay they’re doing something shady.

Self Direction divides the funds into different categories. OTPS is one such category (I think it stands for "other than personal services)

Note that Hamaspik of Kings / Rockland / Orange may all have different rates.
