Amazon no longer has free returns thru UPS

They now require you to drop off your package at a drop-off location like Whole Foods or Kohl's. This is extremely annoying especially as I am paying for prime which is not cheap!!!!
They charge for UPS drop off or pick up even if the item was defective or misadvertised which has never been the case in the past. This is a recent change apparently.

We have this happen twice in only the last few days with shoes and a cell phone wallet

Not free pick up. A free return label, I give it to a UPS driver or drop it off in a UPS box.

By choosing return method, you have to click on "UPS drop off-points"

This isn’t a new thing.
Kohls or Whole Foods is free drop off.
UPS store is free drop off but depends on the item. Some are not.
USPS same thing.

I’ve had this for atleast a year now.

On certain items, that is no longer an option. You can only choose Amazon drop off center or UPS store drop-off with QR code (no label printout to use to drop off in a UPS box). It's awful.

I started just filling in reason for return is that it arrived to late and that usually is free return. When I pay for prime I want to fully use it otherwise it’s not worth it.

I've also noticed recently that less and less items are giving free ups printable labels. It does usually work for me if I choose inaccurate website description as my reason.

Call or chat customer service and they will give it to you for free.

Amazon is getting cheap.
Remember when they offered free pickup?
Now they won’t even let me do the ups store for free. It needs to be Whole Foods or kohls.
My neighbor says she chats them to get a free return label. But I don’t want to need to chat every time!
I have some returns piling up and dh will need to send them back soon.
